The private owner of this rare and important book asked for help in placing its contents online, so they could easily be viewed and searched by the public. The Center for Jewish History agreed to perform the digitization in exchange for the book's donation to YIVO, and the public now has access to this unique information from shortly before the Second World War. Because of the late date, broad coverage, and high percentage of Jews listed, this source may be especially useful for Holocaust-era research. The donor, Leibl Rosenberg, has added the following dedication:

B"H

This singular volume was dedicated to the general public by Leibl Rosenberg in loving memory of the members of the families Rozenberg from Lodz and Kalma from Kalisz, who together with the biggest part of Polish Jewry suffered terribly and perished horribly in the Shoah. May all their souls be bound up in the bundle of life.

I have cross-indexed a 1936 entry for Hersz Lejb Cytryn, co-owner of a tannery and real estate holdings (and possibly a family member), with a takeover of his properties by the banks described in Yad Vashem Studies of Jewish Defendants in Polish and German courts, c. 1940.

Thanks, very valuable as ever.

Hi,
Well I did a search on this list and indeed found a bank account of my grandfather.
So now I'm curious what to do with the information. Yes, I'd like to know what happened to
his assets, but I wouldn't really know what to do next.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
tr

Have you tried contacting Project Heart - the Holocaust Era Asset Restitution Taskforce?

Did you find your grandfather's account in Project Heart? I am in a similar situation but the account is not listed in Project Heart. I was wondering if you could help me decide what the next step should be.

Thanks.

Searching by surname is the best way to find a person in this directory. To limit your search to only this directory, append {d82} to the surname, like this: Jaglom {d82}. If you also want to include the 1938 edition, but nothing else, append {d82, d697}, like this: Jaglom {d82, d697}.
